The Animation of David O'Reilly

David O'Reill AKA (Randy Peters) is a 26 year old Irish artist/director from Kilkenny, Ireland. He specializes in stripped down psychedelic and highly chaotic animated shorts that I love because of their unpredictability. He has worked on projects for several pop icons such as U2, Tim and Eric, M.I.A. and Lady Gaga, created animated sequences for such films as Son of Rambow and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, won several prestigious awards, and is the newest geek turned cool guy on the animation scene.  His most recent short The External World, premiered at both the 67th Venice Film Festival and 2011 Sundance film festival. One of my favorite of his films Please Say Something, was awarded the Golden Bear at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival. This guy is definitely someone to watch for in the future. Kings Of Convenience - Me in You

Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe make up the indie folk-pop duo Kings Of Convenience. This is the new video for the song "Me In You" from their third album "Declaration Of Dependance", which was released in October 2009 on Virgin/EMI. Shot by Panorama Hardangeron on Eirik Glambek Bøe’s roof in beautiful Bergen, Norway using a motorized flying device called an Octocopter.

Og De Sauza: Pro Skateboarder

Og de Sauza is a Brazilian born professional skateboarder. What makes Og so special is that he has no use of his legs, yet he tears it up with more passion and styles than most skaters could ever dream. Sauza's skateboarding career started when he contracted polio at the age of three which stunted the development of his legs. Originally the use of a skateboard was purely for transportation. Getting from point A to B he slowly developed his skills. Now Sauza travels all over the world skating and inspiring. Check out the video below to see his skills at play.

The Reactable - An Instrument From The Future

 

The ReacTable is a revolutionary new electronic musical instrument that is made up of a luminous round table, and clear and round shaped pucks that light up when activated and have different symbols on them. Putting these pucks on the Reactable surface, turning them and connecting them to each other, allows the musician to combine different elements like synthesizers, effects, sample loops or control elements in order to create a unique musical composition. There is an iPad app, and an iPhone app for download for about $10.00 from the Apple store.

Enter The Void

 Gaspar Noé's third film Enter The Void is a journey not into the "unknown", but more into the "what is possible". Everyone wonders about what happens in the afterlife. Shot in point-of-view perspective, this film captures an interesting approach to the big question that seems to parallel The Tibetan Book Of The Dead. Set in Tokyo, Japan in the neon-lit nightclub scene, main character Oscar is a small time drug dealer who gets shot by the police as a result of a sting operation gone bad. While he lays dying on the bathroom floor of a nightclub named The Void, he begins to hover over his own body. Drawn to any source of light he begins to float through walls, ceilings, and over rooftops in order to witness from above the events that unravel after his passing.

Amon Tobin "ISAM" Live Show

Electronica artist Amon Tobin is taking things to a higher level. He and a large team of designers, builders, and techies, have constructed an aesthetic masterpiece. Inspired by his album "ISAM", this towering structure of technological innovation is a significant move forward from stage shows of the past.

Alexa Meade

Alexa Meade is a 2 dimensional 25 year old american artist, in a 3 dimensional women's body. Just looking at her work seem to open up my head. She has this illusionist style that's mind-warping. I really like her process, because she incorporates several different elements of visual art. From the model, to the set, to the paint, to the photo. All these elements seem to absorb each other. Alexa Meade makes art fun.

Here We Go Magic

Here We Go Magic is a five piece band based in Brooklyn, New York led by singer-songwriter Luke Temple. I would describe it as psychedelic electronic indie folk rock music at it's finest. For me this was an accidental find. Someone must have slipped it into my external hard drive while sharing music. Thanks to the random option on my iTunes player, another diamond in the rough is found. HOTEL FOX

This is Copenhagen, Denmark's amazing "Hotel Fox". Started as a promotional project for Volkswagen's European market "Fox" car. It has continued to be a piece of graphical heaven. 21 artist designed 61 rooms that are a direct reflection of their visions and styles. Most guests have described their stay at the Fox to be the closest thing to sleeping in an art gallery possible.
 

Funky Forest: The First Contact

This has got to be one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. Writer/Director Katsuhito Ishii’s film "Funky Forest" is a creative force to be reconned with. This abstract non forgiving work of celluloid art is a breath of fresh air. The fact that Ishii goes in any direction he sees fit is like a dream that made sense while it was happening, but didn't once you woke up. After watching this film I was greatly reminded that anything is possible.
